Sue's work reflects a harmony with nature and a true love of wildlife. Each painting is an original, unique and"one of a kind" work of art, that has been custom matted and framed by her husband , John Rufus.
Sue finds Inspiration all around her rustic Art Studio! She began using natural feathers as a canvas in 1994 and hasn't run out of inspiration yet. Sue's Work reflects her own harmony with nature and love of wildlife.
Sues Painting techniques capture the true essece of the subject matter, bringing it to life and complimenting the natural textures of the feathers. According to Sue the hardest part of painting each piece is "covering up the beauty of the feathers."
Hunters Provide these feather canvases after a "legal harvest" and Sue utilizes the feathers that would otherwise be discarded. She likes to look at it as a natural form of "recycling" , the finished work of Art is a tribute to the beauty of the natural materials used. Sue's Paintings are mounted on a piece of handmade paper created by the artist herself containing feathers, leaves and other natural items to compliment each painting.
